Standards explained
is recorded clearly and consistently, so it’s available whenever and wherever you need it.

Projects in progress
The PRSB works across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland to develop and improve health and care information standards. We collaborate with health services, regulators, and technology partners to ensure information is consistent, accurate, and person-centred. Our work supports safer, more effective care and helps professionals and patients access the right information when they need it. On this page, you can review our latest current work.
Automating 4 Better Care (A4BC)
By bringing together the NHS, industry and policy leaders from across the UK, A4BC aims to transform medicines management by co-developing solutions, aligning standards and sharing best practice.
Diabetes – new phase looking at standardising information from medical devices
This new phase of work will build on the existing Diabetes Record Standard, enabling the standardised, safe, interoperable, and scalable sharing of patient-generated data from diabetes management devices across health and care settings in England.
Recording and sharing child safeguarding information
This project explored how child safeguarding information is recorded and shared across healthcare settings. The discovery work will help shape recommendations on the information needed and potential standards to support safer, more accurate and timely sharing of safeguarding data.
Improving health information standards in Ireland – HIQA
Working with The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) to provide specialist training and advice on setting and maintaining health information standards in Ireland.
Case summary standards review – LAS
Reviewing the LAS electronic patient care record (ePCR) system against the PRSB Ambulance Handover to Emergency Care Standard. The aim is to identify changes needed to support safe, consistent, and digital transfer of patient information from ambulance crews to emergency departments.
Core Information Standard (CIS) update
Our standards are based on a set of reference components, which we’ve refined over time to ensure consistency across the board. As we’ve developed new standards, we’ve enhanced these components to make implementation easier and there are now new parts in other standards which could be appropriate for the Core Information Standard.
