How can PRSB standards help clinical safety officers?

Suppliers and care providers are encouraged and compelled to implement PRSB standards for legislation purposes, supplier accreditation, procurement policy and to enable information sharing across integrated care systems. Full conformance with some standards is a legal requirement from 2024.

  • Use the standards as the basis for your IT system data recording and information sharing requirements (for patient scenarios/use cases and clinical workflow).
  • Use PRSB standard DCB012 which outlines requirements to ensure effective clinical risk management using a clinical safety case report and hazard log, developed for each standard.
  • Find detailed standards, implementation guidance, clinical safety cases, hazard logs and use case examples on the PRSB website.

The information in a standard is structured in an information model with sections and elements (data items) and uses internationally recognised coding terminologies. The information model is published in different formats, including a viewer on the website (shown in the diagram below), and JSON and Excel files.
