An introduction to PRSB's Head of Marketing: Andy Hall

What made you want to join the PRSB?

For me it feels like a very exciting time to be joining the organisation. The acceleration of digital transformation and the burgeoning demand for accurate, real-time data in the sector means the PRSB has a critical and leading role to play in the collaborative effort to implement the interoperability that will help deliver better care for all. To know your work is contributing towards the improvement of people’s lives is incredibly gratifying.

As the new head of marketing, what do you think you will be able to contribute most to the role?

With over a decade working in the private sector behind me, my aim is to apply elements of the commercial strategies I have honed to achieve objectives in a not-for-profit environment. There is definitely room for the PRSB to become more widely recognised and I’m confident we can leverage the power of digital tools to raise our profile, positioning the brand as a thought leader and authority in the health and care sector. It’s here that I feel I can make the most impact.

What are you most looking forward to about working with PRSB?

Achieving growth in its various forms. There is so much potential here – not just for the organisation but for my own development too. It’s possible at the PRSB to easily recognise what is required to make progress and add value, but also to identify where actions you have taken as an individual have contributed towards making that happen. That is such a motivating prospect.

Tech wizard or tech muggle?

Very much in the realms of mid-table mediocrity on this one! I am very comfortable with technology, but I wish I’d been more of an innovator. It’s great that children are taught coding these days – I remember when IT in schools was all about floppy disks and Acorns! I’ll certainly be encouraging my daughter to pick up coding and the likes when she’s a little older. In marketing specifically, technology can be incredibly powerful. But in many cases, it’s only as good as the data you feed into it, so it’s important to remember there are rarely silver bullets. You can’t just plug in a solution, turn it on and expect all your challenges to disappear.

What would your superpower be and why?

I would love the opportunity to visit any moment at any point in time, to live the experience and find out what actually happened; what life was really like in that instance. Also, to be able to relive or watch moments in your own life again. You could learn so much from being able to reflect on the past but in the first person. Sorry, it’s all got a little bit Black Mirror all of a sudden…!
