The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England. Its role is to ensure that care services are delivering safe, effective, compassionate and high-quality care, and to encourage ongoing improvement.

CQC monitors, inspects and regulates care providers, using a combination of data, expert inspections and feedback from the public to make informed judgements. Where necessary, it takes action to address poor care and hold providers accountable.
