NHS England awards contract for new data platform
PRSB welcomes NHS England’s announcement that the contract to provide a Federated Data Platform for the NHS and social care has been awarded. Palantir and Accenture named as the contract winners.
As an organisation at the vanguard of digital information sharing to improve the delivery of health and care, PRSB is excited about the potential of the FDP. We believe it will mark a step change in how the NHS and social care use data and analytics to improve service delivery, planning and leverage the power of information to move the health and care system onto a new footing focused on population health management and preventive care.
We are keen to support the development of the FDP, working with our member organisations representing professionals and patient-representative groups, to promote the use of information standards so that the quality of the data for health and care and its analysis provides the greatest benefit for people.

Patient-representative groups have published a blog on the FDP, its benefits, risks and where to find out more information for members of the public. See below.
