The critical importance of About Me information

The PRSB surveyed more than 400 individuals with an interest in adult care and the data that people want to share about themselves, with specific attention drawn to About Me information.

About Me information is the most important details that a person wants to share with professionals in health and social care. This information might include how best to communicate with the person, how to help them feel at ease or details about how they like to take their medication.

Those questioned included providers of health and social care, system suppliers and those receiving care, such as nursing home residents.

The results demonstrated how About Me information is considered important by both those administering care, and those accessing it, but also some of the considerations that should be taken into account to ensure it can be trusted and works well for all. The study also considers who should be permitted access to About Me information and how content might be best captured.
