Dan Henning read medicine at The Queen’s University of Belfast, qualifying in 2002 and working in Northern Ireland until he joined the Royal Navy in 2004. He currently works in Navy Command Headquarters in Portsmouth and maintains clinical work in University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust.

His interests are critical care, personnel management, medical materiel and clinical informatics, with involvement in the implementation of the Emergency Care Dataset in the south-west of England. He has significant operational experience in the Royal Navy’s surface fleet, including HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH’s maiden deployment in 2018 and several tours in Afghanistan. He lives in Plymouth with his wife, a Practice Nurse, and 2 children.
