Robert, a Biomedical Scientist, is the Institute of Biomedical Science’s Informatics lead. A former treasurer and council member of the Institute, he is currently member of NHS Digital’s Pathology Standards Governance Board and is the Institute’s nominee on the Royal College of Pathologists Informatics Committee and to BSI committees LBI/1/2 Laboratory Equipment, which he chairs; and LBI/1/1 Laboratory Furniture and Fittings. He is a member the Faculty of Clinical Informatics and it’s Finance Audit and Risk committee. He is an RCPath Consulting advisor, also a coach on the Green Templeton College coaching programme at the University of Oxford.

Following general training, Robert specialised in chemical pathology. Prior to becoming a freelance consultant, he was Director of Pathology Contract and Performance at Bedford Hospital, he has also managed pathology services at Portsmouth Hospital’s NHS Trust and at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Robert has been a senior leader in pathology service and workforce reconfigurations, he also has experience in the implementation of health information technology services and procuring and implementing laboratory information management systems.

He has completed an MBA with the Open University, an MSc in Chemical Analysis with Thames Polytechnic, and a post graduate diploma in advanced professional research at the University of Portsmouth.
