Helen qualified as a registered general nurse in 2000. Following working as a Senior Nurse Manager in General Practice, Helen was the first adopted Macmillan Nurse in General Practice. In 2018 she was awarded Community Woman of the year in the prestigious North East Glass Slipper awards followed by a National General Practice award for ‘Practice Nurse of the Year’, recognised for her flagship project to increase uptake of cervical screening. Helen has a passion for anything digital especially introducing new systems and processes into general practice that are patient centred. She is enthusiastic to share best practice and communicate on a national level with Practice Nurses. Helen was appointed Clinical Nurse Advisor at NHS England Digital Primary Care Team leading on the Digital Nurse Network agenda in September 2018 moving into NHSX in July 2019. Helen is part of the Rosalind Franklin GPN NHS Leadership Academy 2019 cohort, she also represents the Nurse Voice at a National level on Immunisations and Cervical Screening. She is also a member on the RCNI Primary Health Care editorial advisory board and a very proud Queens Nurse. The 2020 People Plan also has documented the success of the Digital Nurse Network with NHSX which Helen leads on – stepping up and responding to the digital agenda during the COVID-19 response.
