RIX on a mission to transform people’s care experience with the About Me Standard

Rix Inclusive Research’s mission is to enable people with learning disabilities to realise the full potential benefits that digital and new media technologies can bring to their lives. Their RIX Wiki/Rix Multi Me Toolkit software has just become conformant with ‘About Me’, which will empower them to shape their users’ care more effectively.

Around 1.5 million people in the UK have a learning disability. RIX’s platforms enable these individuals to use multimedia such as videos, pictures, sound and words, to share their needs, aspirations, preferences and goals with the key people and health and care professionals in their life.

Our recent case studies about Mike and Cassie show how using ‘About Me’ in the Multi Me Wiki software supported them through hospital appointments which might not have been possible, or could have resulted in adverse outcomes, without understanding key ways to work with them.

Achieving conformance with the standard means that RIX’s customers can be confident that the software presents accurate, up-to-date personal information that promotes better, more informed care decisions. The team at RIX anticipates increased adoption of their platform by health and social care services, and improved user satisfaction. This conformance boosts the credibility and impact of their platform, potentially expanding their user base and partnerships.

Gosia Kwiatkowska, Director at Rix Inclusive Research, said: “Achieving the PRSB About Me Standard conformance underscores our commitment to empowering people’s voices. The RIX Wiki gives individuals the ability to share their personal story and care preferences in a way that truly matters, transforming the care experience for all involved.”

Lorraine Foley, CEO at the PRSB, said: “It makes us immensely proud to see how using ‘About Me’ information helps improve the care experience and lives of people who use RIX’s software. I would like to congratulate Gosia and her team for achieving the next and final step on their adoption journey with the standard and I am excited to hear how this success will further support their goals.”
